True alternatives needed
Dear Editor:The people responsible for the “Entrance Solution” are committing a scam on the people of Aspen. They are circulating petitions to offer people a “choice” between four lanes into Aspen … and four lanes into Aspen. And by the way, they are pandering to environmentalists by even mentioning some future light rail. If there is to be a vote, true alternatives need to be on the table. The preferred alternative is still … well, the preferred alternative. If the new City Council wants to open the door to re-evaluating the entrance solutions … again … then let there be a group that includes city, county, RFTA, and ski company representation, formed to offer competing alternatives to the voters. The alternatives should include a plan for mass transit as part of the entrance solution.Robert PewWoody Creek
