Town hosts car show Saturday
Basalt will host the inaugural Second Saturday event of the summer with the Midland Car Show today.
Cars will be on display along the town’s main street from 5 to 8 p.m. Restaurants will sell food. There will be a beer garden. Echo Monday will perform live music. The event is in its second year of presentation by Basalt Arts and Social Happenings.
In addition to the car show, merchants downtown, in Willits Town Center and the Basalt Business Center will have specials and sales from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Wyly Community Arts Center will hold a chalk-art contest from 3 to 5 p.m.
Approvals spark new life into downtown JAS Center project
Nearly three years after Aspen City Council cleared the founder of Jazz Aspen Snowmass to launch a jazz performance and education center downtown, Jim Horowitz said he expects the project will get rolling before the year is over.
