Toni says…

Dear Editor: Carolyn Sackariason, a reporter from The Aspen Times, called me on Friday afternoon to ask if she could interview me about the upcoming runoff election I am in for a seat on Aspen City Council. A dream come true? I invited Carolyn over to the house, the place I call home, my legal residence, between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. that evening to interview me or, if that was not convenient, she could come to the basement I use as a desk area in Aspen Village subdivision to conduct my research, work on the computer and plan for my swimming, holiday helpers and horse jobs. Instead, that afternoon, knowing I would not be home until 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., Carolyn chose to stake out the caretaking position I have, with a photographer in tow, trespassing on the property, peeping in windows and harassing a person dropping off yard signs from the election. Carolyn was issued a warning from the police but continued telephone harassment on the phone. All are misdemeanors. Carolyn may think what she wants and base her reports on people seeing me on the bus or close to my office, but does Carolyn really think I am going to invite her over to a house that I do not legally belong in? Then all of us would be arrested for trespassing, which is a misdemeanor. Toni KronbergAspenEditor’s note: Carolyn Sackariason disputes the allegations contained in this letter.
