Tomba brings his ski tour to Aspen

Local skiers will get a chance to race against “Tomba la Bomba”later this month when the Lexus Tomba Tour comes to Aspen.Alberto Tomba, an Olympic champion and favorite of the World Cupcircuit for many years, will be in Aspen March 19-21 for the tour,which will be a major fund-raiser for the Aspen Valley Ski/SnowboardClub and the Kids’ Stuff Foundation.The Lexus Tomba Tour, presented by Rossignol, will pit six-personteams against each other. Teams will be made up of four skiers,a celebrity from television, movies, music or sports, and a formeror current World Cup skier. Races will be Saturday and Sunday.Additionally, Tomba and 15 other World Cup skiers will ski withlocal kids from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 19. Youngsterswanting to participate should meet at the gondola at 1:15 p.m.World Cup fans will get a chance to meet the skiers Saturday andSunday in the lobby of The Little Nell hotel, from 3:30 to 4:15p.m.And local skiers can race against Tomba’s best time on Saturday,from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The fastest skiers will get to go head tohead with Tomba.For more information, call 925-2720.
