Tom Peirce remains hospitalized

Aspen Times Staff Report

Tom Peirce, a former candidate for Aspen City Council, remained hospitalized over the weekend, friends of the family said Sunday.

Peirce, 48, was admitted to Aspen Valley Hospital on Wednesday after he suddenly fell ill. He was diagnosed with lung cancer last June, but indicated in a letter to the editor earlier this month that he had undergone treatment for the disease.

His health forced him to withdraw from the council race last week.

Sources close to the family said he remained in intensive care on Sunday. The hospital was not able to release additional information about his condition.

Members of Peirce’s family were not available for comment.
