Times to debut first Saturday, Sunday editions

Tomorrow, you’ll have an opportunity to read a newspaper that is the first of its kind. The Aspen Times will be publishing a daily edition on Saturday for the first time in its modern history. If you miss the Saturday edition, you’ll have a chance the very next day to read another “first of a kind,” the first Sunday edition of The Aspen Times. With the publication of the Saturday and Sunday editions, The Aspen Times will become a seven-day-a-week publication. These changes have been a long time in coming. We think they are necessary to ensure that the Times remains the first and best source of local news in the valley. And that’s not all. The Aspen Times Weekly, published on Thursday for the better part of the last 50 years, has been redesigned and will come out on Sunday, inserted in the new daily edition. The Sunday daily (with the Weekly) will be available in our purple newspaper boxes all over the valley. For the rest of the week, the Weekly will be available in the same green boxes it’s distributed in today.Publishing the Times daily all seven days of the week is first and foremost a matter of effectively covering the news in a dynamic community. Some 30,000 people live in the Roaring Fork Valley now, and news happens every day. Furthermore, we can offer advertisers two more opportunities per week to reach readers and potential clients.Over time, we look forward to filling our Saturday and Sunday editions with new features and innovative glimpses of life in the valley. Most important, we want these new editions to become a relevant and vital part of your weekend life. That means providing both news and features that make them “must reads” each and every week.
