Times takes cheap shot

Dear Editor:

The Wednesday front-page photo in The Aspen Times is of someone I care about greatly: Doris Peterson. One of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever met. The picture is of her volunteering at the Thrift Shop, something she loves doing to be involved in the community she cares about so much.

I do not appreciate the headline above the photo. It’s rude. Whoever chose it, whoever approved it and whoever printed it needs to think twice before being offensive to a woman who gives up her time to support the town she loves. I’m shaking mad right now.

I don’t care if you print this … just get it to the person who wrote, “Ummm … is that a costume?” because I want them to seriously think if that was a very sweet treat to serve this amazingly kind woman.

Let me just tell you, it wasn’t. It was unnecessary and rude. It certainly was not funny at all. And are you kidding me? That’s the headline on the front page of The Aspen Times on Halloween? That’s sad.

Man, there is so much that goes on in the world and valley, and you choose instead to put down a wonderful local lady. Ick!

Vail Resorts has received notice of violation and a cease and desist order in the wake of a spill, which qualifies as a “discharge of pollutants,” last year from part of the Vail Mountain snowmaking system that ultimately resulted in a fish kill in Gore Creek.
