Time to step aside
I retired from Aspen Valley Hospital after 15 years as Director of Nutritional Services. When you care for an organization it is sometimes difficult to leave and let someone fresh take over.
The incumbents have been serving on the Aspen Valley Hospital board for eight years. If re-elected they will serve 12 years. They say they want to “finish” what they started nine years ago. The work of a hospital board is never finished.
In the years I have been involved with Aspen Valley Hospital, this board election has generated the most interest. When I worked there, we used to beg people to run for the board. The quality and quantity of candidates running is unprecedented.
If I were Meg, Tom or Chuck, I think I would happily step down to give others a chance to serve.
