Time for the swap

Dear Editor:

It’s ski swap time ” keep your dates open for Nov. 7 and 8.

We would love to get some volunteers to help at the ski swap, it’s a fast paced, hard

two days work, but fun and we could use you.

Pam Beck and Trudi Barr along with many volunteers started the ski swap 54 years ago to help the community both for skiing and outdoor education for the schools. I myself have been with the ski swap for over 50 years. I have had a lot of people ask me what the swap serves today. For 54 years we have donated all funds made by swap to our schools for outdoor education and if we have extra money it goes towards equipment, books, teaching supplies and items our teachers need that is not furnished by the school funds.

I would say that 80 to 100 percent of the outdoor education equipment, scholarships for outdoor education and additional items outdoor education has been brought and furnished by the ski swap We feel that the outdoor program is a program that has benefited all the kids of the school system and probably would not be completely able to be funded by the school, that is why the ski swap tries to help.

The money we make each year at the swap 100 percent back to the schools and the kids.

The swap has grown over the years and we want to see it continue to grow and help the schools and the community and would love to some new volunteers as we sure could use you and need some help. We have a lot of different jobs in a section you would like to work if we can. We ask the workers to try to give us both days as we need you both days. We try to set up schedules for you to work and if someone doesn’t show up it’s hard to cover for you. We also schedule you for one hour of shopping time on Friday evening after we are set up.

Please give us a call and give us a try, we sure would appreciate it. Please call Jackie at 925-3484 or Will at 920-7393 and we can sign you up.
