Tibetan monks present concert

Aspen Times Staff Report

The Ganden Shartse monks of Tibet will present a concert, “Music From High Places,” tonight at the Paepcke Auditorium.

The concert, which will also feature local musician Jimmy Ibbotson of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and flutist Nawang Kechog, is set for 7:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Ganden Shartse and Surmang Monasteries. Tickets are $20; $10 for students and seniors.

A group of Tibetan monks have been in Aspen for the last several days, creating a sacred sand mandala at the Aspen Wellness Center and performing cleansing and blessing ceremonies.

The concert is being presented by the Roaring Fork Friends of Tibet.
