Thrifty in Basalt

Dear Editor:

We are so fortunate to have a community resource like the Basalt Thrift Shop in our town. This amazing organization is a real friend to our local schools.

Basalt Elementary and Basalt Middle School students have benefited from the Thrift Shop’s generosity many times this year. The Thrift Shop donates their gently used children’s books to the schools. Partners in Education, the parents organization, sorts these books and distributes them to children throughout the school year. Thousands of books have been donated to kids in this manner.

Basalt Thrift helped the middle school fill a closet with winter coats, gloves, boots and hats so that kids can be warmly dressed for outdoor education field trips. They also lend a hand when we have costuming needs for school plays.

If you haven’t donated to or shopped at Basalt Thrift yet, stop in soon (it is a block behind Big O Tires).
