Three teens injured in midvalley rollover

Three midvalley teen-agers were seriously injured Friday in a single-car, rollover accident on Fender Lane, west of Cattle Creek, in between Carbondale and Glenwood Springs.

The three teens’ names were not released, and as of Sunday evening, only one remained in serious condition at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs, according to a hospital spokesperson. The other two were released earlier, the spokesperson said.

According to a written statement from the Colorado State Patrol, the three teens were westbound on Fender Lane, en route to a friend’s house to watch movies, when the driver lost control of the vehicle on a left-hand turn. The vehicle spun 270 degrees, went off the roadway and rolled three times down a very steep embankment.

“All occupants were taken to Valley View Hospital in serious condition,” the statement said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, though excessive speed and driver inexperience are considered to be factors at this point, according to the State Patrol.

A State Patrol dispatcher said Sunday that the three teens were “all from the Carbondale or Snowmass area.”
