Three picks for a bright future
Dear Editor:
April 1 is election day for Basalt ” an important day for Basalt residents. The next few years will be formative for our town. We need to choose council members who will support goals set forth in the Town Master Plan, to preserve our small-town character through responsible growth, to protect our community buffers, to provide trails to make Basalt pedestrian and bike friendly, and to create affordable housing. We need leadership that will keep Basalt a special place where families can live, work and enjoy our beautiful surroundings.
Jacque Whitsitt has a proven track record of working diligently for our community. A former town council member, Jacque also serves with many community and regional committees and nonprofits. Jacque has tirelessly advocated for affordable housing, open space and trails, and appropriate development that addresses the infrastructure needs of our community.
Katie Schwoerer will listen to residents priorities set forth in the master plan, and encourage resident involvement in government. Katie will give Willits a voice on town council, and be an advocate for responsible growth, affordable housing and maintaining the urban growth boundary (UGB) to keep Basalt a livable community.
Pete McBride is a life-long resident of the Roaring Fork Valley who cares deeply about the future direction of Basalt. Pete recognizes the need to preserve Basalt’s character and charm through the protection of our town’s rural buffers and open space, and with intelligent growth directed at keeping families and diversity in our community.
Please vote for Jacque Whitsitt, Pete McBride and Katie Schwoerer on April 1, for a bright future for Basalt.
