Thomasville event supports EMT fund

The Basalt and Rural Fire Department’s seventh annual Snowmobile Poker Run and Chili Supper will be Sunday at Thomasville.The event is a fundraiser for the Vincent Paul Thomas EMT Memorial Fund. Thomas was a member of the Thomasville station of the Basalt and Rural Fire Department when he died.The event begins with a snowmobile check-in at 9:30 a.m.; the race is at 10 a.m. Poker hands must be turned in by 4:30 p.m. The registration fee is $20 for adults and $15 for children 10 to 14. People can also purchase five-card hands without making the snowmobile run, and they can purchase additional door-prize tickets. Businesses throughout the valley donated numerous prizes.The chili supper will be at the Thomasville station from 2-5 p.m. It includes chili, salad, dessert and beverages. No alcohol is allowed at the firehouse. Volunteer firefighters and EMTs will prepare and serve the food.For more information on the event, call John Vasten at 927-1246 or Rachel and Alan Thomas at 927-4889.
