Think water, vote Curry

Dear Editor:As a former resident of the Roaring Fork Valley, I urge all of you to vote for Kathleen Curry for state House District 61 representative. Water and the ongoing threat of trans-mountain diversion from the Western Slope to the Front Range will be the most pressing issue facing our region for the foreseeable future. Kathleen is the former manager of the Upper Gunnison Water Conservancy District, and is largely responsible for the Gunnison Basin having no infrastructure to facilitate a Front Range water grab.I have worked with Kathleen on planning and water issues over the last three years and have been profoundly impressed with her knowledge of the Western Slope, her professionalism and her passion for the most beautiful part of Colorado. In the Roaring Fork Valley, nearly 50 percent of your water already feeds the massive population growth of the Front Range. We need a representative that will fight to retain water within its basin of origin where it belongs, and not to facilitate the deflection of valuable natural resources to areas that do not have the ability to absorb additional growth. Please vote for Kathleen on Nov. 2!Dave MichaelsonCrested Butte
