There’s hope for the future

Dear Editor:With Aspen High School now back in session, we would like to send out a big thank-you to last year’s prom committee, their adviser, Nancy Roach, and the entire class of 2006 for their amazing fund-raising on behalf of the Wilderness Workshop.Apparently last year’s senior prom was the first ever to double as a fund-raiser for a local cause. The prom raised a considerable sum, and in keeping with the theme (“Enchanted Forest”), the committee decided to donate the money to WW, which watchdogs our local U.S. Forest Service lands. It’s great to get financial support, but it’s even better knowing that we have such concerned and generous students in our community. With future leaders like these, Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley are going to be all right.Dave ReedSloan ShoemakerWilderness Workshop
