Theatre Aspen’s kiddies put on ‘Cats’

ASPEN ” Theatre Aspen’s Winter Performance Conservatory and Teen Company will present a series of Sunday apres-ski performances at the Crystal Palace through the winter.

The series opens Sunday, Feb. 3, with “Cats,” Andrew Lloyd Webber’s long-running musical, based on poems by T.S. Eliot, that opened on Broadway in 1982 and became the longest-running musical in Broadway history. “Cats” will show at 1 p.m., Feb. 3, and will have two performances, at 2 and 4 p.m., Feb. 10 and 17.

Theatre Aspen’s production of “The Odyssey,” based on Homer’s epic poem, opens Feb. 24, and shows Sundays through March 9. There will be two performances, at 2 and 4 p.m., of “The Odyssey” each Sunday.

Both productions are directed by Marisa Post, Theatre Aspen’s director of education.

The show includes a serving of pie and coffee, tea, hot chocolate or cider. There will also be a cash bar.
