The true role model

Dear Editor:

What a breath of fresh air to see a “God movie” coming out of Hollywood, rather than the typically violent, “shoot-em up” movie.

For once, we get a real role model in Jesus. Unlike Rambo, Dirty Harry, Terminator, etc., who always survive and achieve their mission at the expense of many, Jesus permits Himself to be sacrificed, at the expense of no one, to save our butts.

As the saying goes, “a picture is worth 1,000 words.” Sure, I can read the Gospels and hear the whole story, but I thank Gibson for allowing me to feel like I was there in person, up close and personal. We’re talking real history here, real life, real death, real blood; history I don’t want to forget.

This isn’t just a story, made up for our entertainment. This is the real thing and one that every Christian can be thankful for. It’s history for anyone who would like to believe there’s hope after death to give some deep thought to. The bloody crucifixion isn’t something meant to be kept at a distance, but a sacrifice for every Christian to embrace. Jesus is the true role model. Who else do you know that has endured such pain and suffering for your sake? A gift like that only comes along once in a lifetime.
