The true pecking order

Dear Editor:

I appreciate Roger Marolt’s column on a regular basis, and welcome the opportunity he has given me to respond to his letter of Jan. 15, whereby he claims to have pecking order rights above and beyond mine, at least in terms of familial land values that could have been.

Perhaps he has forgotten that my great-uncles, Tom and John “Spike” Stapleton, owned the Marolt Ranch before selling it to the Marolts. Just a guess, but I think the order of the pecking has now been corrected. In the spirit of community harmony, however, I hereby and graciously give all such bragging rights to Mr. Marolt, should he deem it necessary to be in possession of same.
