The Thrift Shop delivers

Dear Editor:

Once again the Thrift Shop of Aspen has made a difference for the families of the Roaring Fork Valley by supporting Reach Out and Read Colorado. Our board and staff would like to say thank you!

The generosity of the Thrift Shop will ensure that the 4,300 families of preschool children supported by Reach Out and Read Colorado will continue to receive advice from their health care provider to read to their children on a regular basis and a brand new book to take home at every well-child check. This unique model is the only program capable of reaching nearly all low-income children under the age of six in the valley. And research shows that sharing books with young children in the years before kindergarten can have a profound impact on their language and brain development, their readiness for school, and their long-term commitment to learning. This, in turn, ensures a stronger, more literate, and educated community.

The Thrift Shop of Aspen makes a difference for many nonprofit organizations and others in the community in so many ways. We would like to express our gratitude and ask for the community’s continued support by contributing goods and by shopping there regularly.

Our sincerest thanks to The Thrift Shop of Aspen for your continued generosity and for recognizing our place within the community and the families we serve.
