The sky’s the limit

Dear Editor:

It was great reading about the success of the Aspen Skiers tennis program. Congratulations to the boys! I want to remind the readers that in 1996, the Aspen boys tennis team also had great success. After a great run in conference and state tournaments, two boys went on to play Division I college tennis!

Jeff Sloves went east and played in the Ivy league. Christian Jensen went west and played at USC under head coach Dick Leach. Christian played one year for the Skiers before moving to Newport Beach, Calif. He played at Corona Del Mar High School, winning a state and national team title. At USC, he won a NCAA team tennis title in 2002, and continued to play professional tennis in Europe from 2002 to 2003.

When he lived in Aspen, Christian’s tennis coach was Randy Crawford at the Maroon Creek Club. You never know where tennis will take you in life, so I encourage the boys and girls to set your goals, work harder than your opponents, never give up … and always think big!

Robert Jensen
