The right solution

Dear Editor:

Anyone doing the math could figure out that 1.3 billion Muslim Arabs in 22 Arab states already have more than 14.8 million square kilometers, which is 11 times as many square kilometers per capita as the 14 million Jews possess worldwide. Enough is enough. With all that they already have, the Arabs don’t need any part of historic Israel’s 25,600 square kilometers.

Historic Israel includes Judea, Samaria, Gaza and all of its historic capital, Jerusalem. That territory was granted to the Jewish people by the League of Nations at the San Remo Conference on April 21, 1922. It is part of international law.

Jordan, the state for Arabs who in 1948 chose not to be citizens of Israel, has 3.5 as many square kilometers as Israel. They could and should absorb their Arab brethren. The Arab world should then recognize Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish homeland.

As far as any Arab property goes, Arab nations have already confiscated nine times as much property from Jews who were forced to leave their homes in Arab lands as their Arab brothers would be giving up in Israel. Fair is fair. Let the Arabs keep the property that Jews were forced to evacuate, and let the Jewish people have their nation in their historic homeland. This is the solution that the world and the United States need to recognize and support.
