The public needs to know
Dear Editor:
Shame on our local newspapers for having no information in their papers last Wednesday regarding the Veterans Day services on Thursday.
I picked up both newspapers as we as a family wanted to go to the service. I thought it was going to be at noon but couldn’t verify this. There was no mention of the service’s time or place anywhere in the Wednesday papers. So Thursday morning I called both papers and not a single person knew! I called the city of Aspen – nothing. I called the Department of Motor Vehicles as the service is held right outside their windows. They didn’t know either but graciously made several calls and found out for me that it was to be at 11 am.
I was stunned at the lack of interest the papers had in informing the public prior to this important day. If our veterans are to get support and acknowledgment for their incredible dedication, then the public needs to know when and where these events are to take place.
So for all of you out there who may want to show your appreciation next year, remember: Veterans Day is on the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour. I won’t forget.

Biden takes the helm as president: ‘Democracy has prevailed’
Joe Biden became the 46th president of the United States on Wednesday, declaring that “democracy has prevailed” as he took the helm of a deeply divided nation and inherited a confluence of crises arguably greater than any faced by his predecessors.
