ASPEN The readers have spoken. So has the staff of The Aspen Times. And, two winners have been chosen from the 85 entries posted in The Aspen Times’ online July 4 photo contest. The online competition began July 4, when readers began posting their entries on our website; voting continued through Wednesday at 5 p.m. It was apparent a number of readers were voting repeatedly for their favorites, but a photo titled Independent Girls, submitted by Pam Stanley prevailed. The photo featured Ally Lasser and Sophie Higbie, participants in Aspens Fourth of July parade, posing for a shot on Main Street. Stanley splits her time between Aspen and Los Angeles.Times staffers selected Under Stars & Stripes, taken by Wendy Kline of Chicago, as their favorite. Klines young son, Samuel, is nearly completely concealed by a red, white and blue cowboy hat in the image. Kline is a former Aspen resident; she said she took the shot while visiting her parents home near Aspen. Both winners will receive a certificate for dinner for two at Jimmys An American Restaurant and Bar.
