The importance of saving icons

Dear Editor:In so far as former Mayor Stirling, along with a distinguished group, are attempting to save the Explore Booksellers from the wrecking ball I salute them.It is indeed a sad time when a cultural icon, a pillar representative of a slowly decaying community is lost.I too had a similar feeling a number of years ago when a special gathering place, a place of insurmountable culture coupled with deep thought, was taken away from us by the same city that professes individual thought. I heartily endorse the endeavors of the group attempting to save Explore, and only wish they were here when we needed them back then.I still mourn the loss of the Pub.Ron BaarAspen
