May Eynon

Cocktail parties abound as the holidays have arrived in our winter resort. To kick off the season, a handful of hostesses threw a James Bond Party on Friday, Dec. 10.Due to overwhelming interest in the theme, the third annual affair was moved from a private residence to the downtown Caribou Club. The Caribou was the perfect setting we hope to have it here again, said one of the hostesses.

More than 200 guests sauntered around the club in costumes ranging from tuxedos to gilded bodysuits. One partygoer even sported a scuba suit, possibly portraying Bond in Thunderball. As Dr. No made the moves on Octopussy, Felix Leiter chatted with Moneypenny, and Pussy Galore spent some time with Q in the corner. The weekend continued with holiday parties on Saturday and Sunday nights. Mistletoe, garlands and twinkle lights lent a festive feel to the atmosphere at each gathering. Buffets of hors doeuvres and Christmas confections were presented at each party, complemented by eggnog and other winter beverages.

I love bringing my friends together during the holidays, said Leigh McGilvray, a hostess of a Saturday night soiree. Theres nothing quite like the Christmas spirit.
