The great Social Security ripoff

Dear Editor:Am I the only person in the area who has noticed the real meaning of the new game (re: Social Security) of having to enroll up to $400 a year in a private insurance company in order to enter the marvelous system of co-payments for one’s medicines? Admittedly, it is a new thing, and not strictly contrary to the normal content of Social Security. But the insistence in the literature one receives, that the $400 a year gets you nothing except being on the company’s records. All the details of copayments can’t start until you pay for the privilege of privatization tipped me off to what this game is about – the hoopla simply confuses the fact that privatization has gotten in the back door. And it is the payback by Congress for insurance companies funding their campaigns. And the threat that if you don’t hurry up and join the trip to the slaughterhouse, you will be penalized if you decide to join later, what can this be but part of the nonsense in which both parties agree to hit the public with a pretended bonanza of advantages, so they don’t notice they are being tricked?Nothing new there, folks, just the usual game we have come to expect from politicians. And now they have us caught in a financial net, at least those of us who can afford the $400.Denis HinesGlenwood Springs
