The great radio experiment
May 3, 2002
First I wish to thank the paper for its fair and excellent coverage of the so-called “radio wars.”
As the new owner of KSNO, I have been overwhelmed by the many new faces I have had the opportunity to meet as we attempt our bold radio experiment – that is, bringing quality sounding radio with a strong local news presence and great music to the valley. I call it giving the community the station it deserves.
I have felt a tremendous deal of support for what we are attempting on the air and in the streets of the Roaring Fork Valley. Hopefully, we will live up to the valley’s high expectations and, in return, the residents continue to listen to our on-air product and support the advertisers that are making it all possible.
On a personal note, I wish to thank Tom Griffiths at Vectra Bank for his overview of valley business; and to Ginny Dyche and Linza award winner Kris Marsh for keeping up the passion. To the Rotary, we are just getting warmed up and thanks for having me. To all the guest DJs on Don Chaney’s morning show, including Mayor Klanderud, keep on rockin’. To Hana Pevney, good luck with the new job. To Katharine at Aspen Filmfest, you are the news. And to Brigitte at Aspen Sante Fe Ballet, hopefully we never stop playing your happy songs.
And, by the way, in your feature on the “radio wars” you forgot to mention who the real winner is – the residents of the Roaring Fork.
