The gondola: a few thoughts

Dear Editor:Tony Vagneur is 1,000 percent right: The gondola ruined Aspen Mountain and, if I may say so myself, the town.Locals who wanted to buy a gondola car (not me) didn’t get the opportunity because of the skiing company’s misconception. The reason the beautifully refurbished Ruthie’s chairs didn’t sell was because they were no longer the Ruthie’s chairs!I’m sure the new gondola will carry only six people at the most and ban cell phones so we don’t have to now look and listen to calls. In the spring, Chair 4 should be open as an alternative to the closed-in gondola.Ruth HarrisonAspen
