The gift of dance

Dear Editor:

With the new crunches in finances that many people across the country are facing this year, my family has been blessed with a gift from the Aspen Elks Lodge. For years they have been a generous contributor to not only my expenses needed to dance, but for many others across the community.

This year I was in need of financial aid to make my participation in Aspen Santa Fe Ballet possible. I have been an avid dancer since I was 3 years old, and with my last year as a student at Aspen High, this scholarship opened the doors to my future.

Without their help, my family would have been unable to send my sister or I to classes. It would have been a heart breaking decision, inevitable to an already financially unstable family, but with the supportive and extremely generous help from the Aspen Elks; we are both on our ways to becoming dancers.
