The gauntlet is thrown …

Dear Editor:I have solved a 40-year-old Aspen mystery. I have always wondered why nobody has ever taken Pete Luhn up on one of his frequent challenges made in the letters section of the paper. The answer came to me last week when he finally defied me to take him on.He would have you believe that nobody has challenged him because he is so smart. But, it’s actually just the opposite. His letters are so convoluted that nobody knows what the challenges are, me included!Nonetheless, I have decided to accept his challenge, if only to find out what it is. So Pete, whether it be a disco dance-off, a hot dog contest (eating or skiing), or a simple watermelon-spitting competition, count me in. I’ll beat you at anything! Roger MaroltSnowmass Village
