The dark side of Light

Dear Editor:Pat O’Donnell is the valley’s favorite punching bag, but in one recent instance he showed he is a stand-up guy. Skico employee Auden Schendler spoke out against a development proposal in Basalt. The developer called Pat and complained. Pat did not reprimand Auden, and that was the right thing to do. Sometimes we find integrity in surprising places. (I swear I’m not trying to get a free ski pass here.)Jim Light is that developer. Basalt people let him get away with simultaneously wearing the hats of developer, environmentalist and community caretaker. He speaks glowingly of community spirit. That is, until you oppose his viewpoint. What is the link between Auden’s employment in Aspen and his civic involvement in Basalt? Auden and his wife have a new baby, and Light is messing with his job.I suppose Light will apologize, calling this a momentary lapse in judgment. I think it is the first crack in the Jim Light facade.Jim PaussaBasalt
