The biggest donation of all

Dear Editor:

My name is Michael Wells and I had a life saving liver transplant Dec. 2, 1999. I will be participating in the U.S. Transplant Games from July 11 to 16 in Pittsburgh.

The purpose of the games is to bring awareness to the public that transplantation does work and people can and do lead successful lives. I will be with Team Rocky Mountain consisting of people from Colorado, Montana and Wyoming. We are raising money to send 40 people and a donor family to the games and I am seeking your support.

You can go to http://www.firstgiving.com/michaelwells1 to make a donation or go to the National Kidney Foundation website and make a donation to the team you wish to support.

Did you know that more than 97,000 Americans currently are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant and that 18 people die each day while waiting for an organ transplant?

One organ donor can save or improve the lives of more than 50 people. So please talk to your families and let them know of your wishes to be an organ donor. Sign up to be an organ donor today. There are many website where you can get an organ donor card. Three are the National Kidney Foundation, the Chris Klug Foundation, and the American Transplant Foundation. Thank you for your time.
