The big picture

Dear Editor:Having lived here for over 50 years, I see before us a philosophically critical election: Aspen is a town of people and of families, not a real estate commodity. We have before us a clear choice.Mick has grown and matured with the Aspen community since 1979, watching, shaping and participating in 28 years of history. He works selflessly and with complete integrity for the community. He is thoroughly committed to Aspen. His only personal stake is the vitality and quality of the community life. This election is not about leading a parade, but leading a town forward with vision. The stakes of this election are too high for pettiness. The election is about the big picture and a willingness to address the difficult questions that lie ahead of us.As demonstrated during his 13 years on the Pitkin Board of County Commissioners, Mick does his homework impeccably and thinks through the consequences of his decisions. He is the candidate who can vote responsibly with council.Aspen is part of a larger valley where Mick has worked on county, state and regional levels. He understands the synchronism of these disparate administrations. He sees the big picture with clarity.Reasonable growth and development can coexist with our greatest assets: trails and open space, affordable housing, health and social services. Mick has a proven commitment in Aspen and Pitkin County of enhancing these assets that are fundamental to our valley community. Please vote for the big picture. Vote for vision. Vote for Mick.Nora BerkoAspen
