The art of spooning

Dear Editor:

Since snow has been a bit sparse so far this season, and the next powder day will draw crowds, I thought I should remind the local community about spooning.

Spooning is when a skier follows the tracks of the previous skier as closely as possible. The result is a beautiful series of letter “S’s” down the mountain. The benefit is to provide more fresh tracks for all. You can always tell a local by the spooning technique.

It’s lame to cross tracks and ski up a mountain, wasting fresh tracks for the next skier. Spoon, baby, Spoon.
