Thanksjibbing, Bud Light Hi-Fi concert this weekend

Staff report

Thanksjibbing will once again bring together invited skiers and snowboarders to help kick off the ski season at Snowmass Base Village on Friday. The rail jam will take place starting at 2 p.m. with a 45-minute jam session with both skiers and snowboarders, followed by a 20-minute final. The event will give spectators the chance to watch esteemed local snowboarders and skiers including last year’s winner John Hemminger, along with Connor Marx, Aidan Sheahan and the overall champions of last year’s Street Rail Friday series, Zach Soderholm and Stephen Smith.

In addition to the rail jam, the post-Thanksgiving action in Base Village will include a restaurant leftover challenge, a live DJ playing from the Red Bull MXT and more.

Schedule of events:

1 to 4 p.m.: DJ, turkey bowling and more

2 to 2:45 p.m.: Thanksjibbing Jam Session

2 to 3:30 p.m.: Thanksgiving Leftover Challenge

2:50 to 3:10 p.m.: Thanksjibbing Finals

Also this weekend, the first free Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert of the season features Jamestown Revival at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the upper Gondola Plaza at the base of Aspen Mountain, followed by a fireworks show. This Texas-bred/Los Angeles-based self-described “back-porch folk-rock” duo formed in 2011 and takes inspiration from the likes of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Willie Nelson, the Everly Brothers, Guy Clark and John Prine. Ajax Tavern will have a beer garden with $4 Bud and Bud Light specials throughout the event.
