Thanks, twice

Dear Editor:Two big thank yous!First, many thanks to the 2,290 city of Aspen registered voters who supported Referendum 2A to overturn the City Council’s rezoning of the corner of Galena and Main to allow an 11,000-square-foot building to be built only if it included a 900-square-foot visitor center with additional square footage for ACRA’s offices. It was a tough fight but well worth it. Aspen’s community can now look forward to what I hope will be future discussions about multiple sites for more visitor centers, repairing of the library park plaza’s roof with additional open space being created with a viewing area overlooking Rio Grande Park and the open discussion with the landowner of Galena and Main for the city to acquire the parcel in the historical overlay district as open space to preserve the Entrance to Aspen from the Rio Grande parking garage.Second, a big thanks to all the people who have called, e-mailed and stopped me to ask what time to be in city court on Nov. 10 (the day before my birthday) to show support against my ticket. There is no court scheduled for that day!Thank you again for voting yes to say no. Aspenites can be proud to know there are better solutions ahead.Toni KronbergAspen
