Thanks to Valentines racers

Dear Editor:This past Valentines Day, dozens of runners and walkers got their hearts pumping early with the Chris Bove Memorial Uphill Challenge to benefit Challenge Aspens local scholarship program and the Childrens Hospital Immunodeficiency Program (CHIP) of Denver. Those who took on the uphill challenge had the special treat of both a pancake breakfast at The Cliffhouse and a post-race speech from Bobby the Bob-O-Nator Layman, local recipient of the Chris Bove Memorial Scholarship. On behalf of Challenge Aspen, our local scholarship recipients and the CHIP program, thank you to all who participated, both for racing in support of our programs and for honoring the memory of Chris Bove.To our event sponsors (Orthopaedic Associates of Aspen and Glenwood, Aspen Skiing Co., Ute Mountaineer, Basalt Bike & Ski and KSPN Radio), to the many businesses from Glenwood Springs to Aspen who donated to the success of this years event, and to the Buttermilk Ski Patrol who went above and beyond in providing race-day assistance thank you!Thank you, also, to the many volunteers who helped with the logistics of the event and especially to the volunteers who served as coordinators Joel Scott, Allison Levy, Susan Mouse Carollo and Jane Finsterwald. We are grateful for the incredible support we receive from so many members of the Roaring Fork Valley community every year as we continue to make possibilities for people with disabilities.Geneva TempletonChallenge Aspen
