Thanks from the Buddy Program

Dear Editor:

On Sunday, March 14, more than 80 Big and Little Buddies took to skiing and snowboarding on Buttermilk Mountain thanks to the generous support from Aspen Skiing Co., Bumps Restaurant, Matt Hamilton, Matt Tietz, Jeff White, Stan Starn, Natasha Long, and Mark Leydecker.

Buddy Pairs were offered free lift tickets, equipment and lunch at Bumps. Eight children who had never skied or snowboarded received a free lesson. Big Buddies kept up with their Little Buddies in the terrain parks, through tree trails and while cruising the groomers! Not even grey clouds or windy conditions could dampen their spirits!

The activities we offer to our Big and Little Buddies are designed to build trust and open communication between the Buddy Pairs as well as give children the opportunity to improve their self-confidence.

The Buddy Program would like to extend a big, heartfelt thank you to all of these caring individuals and businesses for their generous support. We couldn’t have done it without them! Our gratitude also goes to all of our wonderful Big Buddies for helping us strengthen our community by guiding and inspiring youth through mentoring.

The Buddy Program offers plenty of opportunities to mentor in our community and local schools. We invite anybody interested in becoming a volunteer mentor to call (970) 920-2130 or visit our website, http://www.buddyprogram.org.
