Thanks from Swiss Gourmet

Dear Editor:

On Saturday afternoon, Dec. 29, the Swiss Gourmet car, carrying myself, my sister, and our five daughters who all are between 3- and 8-years-old, was struck by a car that ran the red light at the intersection of CR100 and Highway 82.

Ron and Kirstin Goth of Swiss Gourmet would like to thank the following:

First and foremost, thanks to God for protecting my family and bring us all home safely, especially the five little girls who walked away without so much as a scratch.

Thank you to everyone at the accident scene who were so kind and helpful. People who let our kids stay warm in their cars, who drove them home for me, who stayed to fill out reports, for hugs and words of reassurance.

Thank you of course to the Highway Patrol and Paramedics who were professional and caring.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the shop to see if we were all okay, and express your words of concern and support.

It is you people that make this community such a wonderful place to live.

For everyone else reading, please, please, PLEASE drive with caution at all times. Please know that your car can be a lethal weapon. Please slow down at intersections to the posted 55mph … especially the intersection at Catherine Store.

We live nearby, and cross the intersection several times a day, and see cars speed through the red light each and every day. Please know that cars are carrying precious cargo ” sisters, moms, children, the most important stuff in the world.

Your responsibility as a driver cannot be taken lightly. Ever.
