Thanks from Aspen Film

Dear Editor:

On behalf of Aspen Film, we’d like to thank all the film lovers who attended our SummerFILMS series presented in association with the Aspen Music Festival and School. It was especially heartening to have enthusiastic full houses for documentaries like “Every Little Step,” “Afghan Star,” and “Herb and Dorothy.”

With signs of fall everywhere, we look forward to celebrating our 30th anniversary later this month when Filmfest lights up screens and lively conversation flows out of the dark and into town. For three decades we’ve shared memorable big-screen stories and storytellers with this mountain community. This year is no exception. With in-person talent like actor Stanley Tucci and director Jason Reitman (coming with his new movie “Up in the Air,” starring George Clooney), we’re tremendously excited about Filmfest.

From previews of Oscar buzz releases to smaller films you’re unlikely to get the chance to see again, there are solid, appealing and just plain wonderful discoveries to be made. International and eclectic in flavor, the comedy (yes, we have comedy), drama and documentary selections are entertaining, thought-provoking and, in more cases than not, uplifting. In these challenging times, we’re especially appreciative of the countless local businesses and thoughtful individuals who give so generously to make this annual fall gathering a reality. Events like Filmfest offer an opportunity for everyone who loves movies to come together to enjoy, imagine and connect.

We hope you’ll join us … and be part of the celluloid celebration. See you at the movies …
