Thanks for prom

Dear Editor:The Aspen High School 2006 prom committee would like to publicly thank the entire Aspen-Snowmass community for helping us put together our junior-senior prom on Saturday, the twenty-ninth of April. The dance, which we held for the fist time at the Crystal Palace, was an amazing success. We send our greatest thanks to the Palace, Mead Metcalf and Nina Gabianelli for allowing us to use this beautiful location, which coincided ideally with our Red Carpet Affair theme. As for the carpet itself, we are grateful to Aspen Floor Covering for its use, and to the Aspen police for closing off the street. We would also like to thank Lush, Susie Patterson at Paradise Bakery, and Kathy Scott at Gorsuch for donating the items in the gift bags for the seniors. We must as well express our gratitude to our amazing paparazzi photographers, Gerald and Diane Schuster, as well as various assistance from Scott Wilson at the Wheeler, Peak Party Rentals and Brad Moore. In addition, we wish to show appreciation for our class sponsors Bernadette Pelinski and Dave Conarroe, our principal and sponsor Charlie Anastas, our vice-principal Brad Bates, our announcer Bruce Johnson, our amazing prom committee sponsor Nancy Fehrmann, and our chaperones Amy Logan, Rixie Cornell, Julie Gumerman, Rossina Allen, Janis Dybdahl, Calan Gibney and Dan Vesper. Finally, we thank all of the parents who prepared dessert platters and brought them to the Palace.Last year, the class of 2006 decided that as a part of prom they would donate money to the Wilderness Workshop. This year, we decided to continue the tradition of giving to a worthy cause. While selling tickets to the dance, we also sold red wristbands. The money from these bracelets will be given to our fellow junior, Pedro Granados. Pedro has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and is currently undergoing radiation at St. Mary’s Hospital. The class of 2007 is delighted to help out a lively, fun, happy member of our Aspen High School community. So, we send the greatest thanks to everyone who donated money to aid Pedro’s recovery. Without all of your assistance, the Red Carpet Affair couldn’t have been possible. Thank you all very much for your support!Cynthia Whitman2006 Prom Committee memberAspen
