Thanks for helping hand

Dear Editor:

We want to send our sincere thanks to the people of the Aspen/Carbondale area for their support of our son’s call for help for the survivors of the recent tornado which ravished our county. Hale County is a mainly rural area and one of the most poverty stricken counties of our state with few resources or jobs.

Although the number of homes damaged and lives lost were not of the magnitude of Tuscaloosa and other urban areas, the losses resulted in severe hardship on those affected.

We have delivered the boxes of clothing and toys that Whelan forwarded to us to the Relief Center in Sawyerville. The generous response of the citizens of your area is greatly appreciated. We admire your willingness to help those affected and may God bless y’all!
