Thanks, Elks

Dear Editor:Basalt Recreation would like to express our gratitude to the Aspen Elks Lodge for their continuing support helping us provide recreational opportunities to the children of the Roaring Fork Valley. Every year they provide funding for our financial aid program so any child can participate in our programs. Also with the funding from Aspen Elks we were able to build shaded dugouts for our baseball and softball players during the summer season. Also, thanks to Evan Glasener from Great Divide Fencing for donating a portion of his time and materials to this project, providing a safer environment for the children. The Aspen Elks Lodge also provides funding for our Valley Softball Clinic with big-leaguer Judi Garman, Hall of Fame former coach for the Italian Olympic softball team.I encourage anyone who is interested in having their child participate in our summer programs to call me. Our relationship with Aspen Elks is a symbiotic relationship – we both feel a passion that all children should be involved in healthy activities that will facilitate growth and enrich their lives.Dorothy HowardBasalt Recreation Department
