Thanks all around

Dear Editor:

I’d like to take the time to thank all those who again so generously contributed to this year’s Disabled Veterans fishing days. Although we were limited by the weather, we were able to share the Roaring Fork watershed with our vets and communicate how special this part of Colorado is to many people needing to be reminded that their sacrifices are not taken for granted.

To the guides: Ry and Lincoln Neiley, Taylor Logsten, Pete Mott, Will Sands, Willard Clapper and Gifford Mathem ” you guys make peoples’ lives better and communicate the kind of love for the resource that gives us half a chance of preserving it and protecting it against those intent on developing both sides of the river continuously from Aspen to Glenwood.

Thank you to the Elks without whom we could not even think about accommodating the vets for their week here. Thank you to Maria Maniscalchi and Rick Neiley for allowing us the use of your remarkable river frontage. Thank you to Barry Barth of Mezzaluna for the best hot lunch any cold fishermen would ever want. Thank you to Taylor Creek Fly Shop, The Stewpot, Paradise Bakery, and all the VA staff and volunteers.

And thanks especially to our Veterans ” your dedication, commitment, and sacrifice is a painful reminder of the price that is paid for our remarkable way of life.

Jonathan Feinberg
