Thankful for school food
On Nov. 16 the Aspen Elementary School held its third annual Thanksgiving lunch. I would like to thank the parents and students for supporting this great community event. It was so nice to see so many people join their child/children for this special lunch. Also, a big thanks to the great volunteers who contributed their time and service to make the event happen, including parents, staff, Chris and Rena from Cache Cache, school board members and more!
We are so fortunate to have great staff: Rene Orellano and Sabino Vasquez, who care so much about our kids and watching them serve food in the elementary, make me smile every day. A big thank-you to the Maroon Creek Club for donating the “famous stuffing” and extra equipment needed to host such a large event.
We are so fortunate to have a great lunch program in place here at the Aspen School District. All meals at the Aspen Elementary and Aspen Middle schools are made from scratch with local and organic products to the greatest extent possible. Students are learning about nutrition, where their food comes from, how to eat for a healthy life, and that healthy food tastes great!
This Thanksgiving – and every day – we have a lot to be thankful for!
