Thank you to a unique community
On Thursday, Dec. 2, we received the tragic news of the death of our daughter, granddaughter and niece, Kiera Tongish, on Snowmass Mountain. Almost immediately, the Aspen community responded with heartfelt condolences and unconditional offers of support.
Our family has been profoundly affected by the loss of Kiera, but we have been given great strength by the outpouring of assistance from this very unique community. We have been stunned by the number of people that have come forward to share their own personal experiences, open their homes, provide transportation, express their sadness through cards, flowers and food, and offer a shoulder to lean on during this difficult time.
Kiera’s memorial service on Wednesday was made very special by the collective and overwhelming show of support. In times such as these, we depend so much on our friends and family, and we simply wanted to express our profound thanks to the entire Aspen community. We have always known what a special and unique community exists here in the Aspen valley, but the generosity of so many people has reminded us how blessed we truly are.
We would like to give our special thanks for their support and generosity to Gregg Anderson at The Aspen Chapel, the Aspen Skiing Co., Harold and Marlen at the Wienerstube Restaurant, and Jeff from Colorado Audio Visual.
With our appreciation and love,
Steve, Kimberly and Caitlin Tongish
Jim and Fay Ward
Casey Ward and Jen Outwater
Natalie and Mike Trecker
P.S. Donations in Kiera’s name can be made to The Aspen Chapel or Challenge Aspen.
