Thank you, Aspen!
Over the past month, Colorado’s ski and snowboarding resorts have once again shown why they are among the best in the world, providing outstanding competition venues for athletes from around the globe. The Aspen Winternational and Audi Birds of Prey races in Beaver Creek, along with the U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix, presented by Sprint, in Copper Mountain were world-class events.
Producing the biggest events outside the Olympics is a major task and it takes great teamwork. Aspen, Beaver Creek and Copper Mountain, together with their local communities, are to be commended for the dedication to producing quality events for the athletes, and a showcase for the entire world to see.
The Audi FIS World Cup always loves coming to Aspen for the passion of the community and the challenge of the race hill. The Aspen Skiing Co., combined with the community of Aspen, did an extraordinary job in preparing a hill so early in the season. It was two days of exhilarating racing producing great finishes by World Cup leader Lindsey Vonn. The USSA is proud to be a partner with the Skico and the entire community.
Your community should take great pride in what you have done to help young athletes. These are motivated men and women who are seeking some very high goals. They serve as role models for today’s youth, who are the champions of tomorrow. They come from all parts of America and the world, but they took a special pride in competing here in Colorado.
Thanks, Aspen, for all you did to provide this opportunity for our athletes and to showcase our sports.
