Thank a referee

Dear Editor:On behalf of the Carbondale Soccer Club, I would like to thank Jeff Leahy and Colorado Rocky Mountain School for allowing us to use classroom facilities to host a U.S. Soccer Federation referee clinic. Twenty-three candidates from throughout the Roaring Fork Valley successfully became referees.Thank you to the following individuals who spent nine hours in a classroom last Sunday, April 23, to help make soccer possible for the youth in this valley: Georgia Ackerman, Taylor Adams, Kidd Martin Baran, Sam Carpenter, Kelley Farris, Clay Guinn, Stuart Jenkins, Nico Seamons, Will Tempest, Thorne Warner and Bobby Weinhold from Carbondale; Steffi Klawiter from Aspen; Tanner Banc, Travis Bredehoft, Teddy Miller, Ivano Del Piccolo and Jeff Orsulak from Basalt; and Carter Colia, Nate Kaup, Sebastian Key, Kenzie Kuhn, Taylor Mays and Nico Tonozzi from Glenwood Springs. If not for these dedicated individuals, the kids in this valley would not be able to play their soccer games on Saturdays for eight to 10 weeks every fall and spring. Next time you attend your child’s soccer game, remember to thank a referee!Kathy GuinnCarbondale
