Dear Editor:It is a shame this insensitive idiot gets so much publicity, but as that is the case, it might be worthy to note a few points of his hypocritical behavior:A measure of his truthfulness is revealed in his claim to American Indian bloodlines. He refuses to support that claim with any evidence, and, in fact, the known evidence suggests that – at most – he has a paltry 1/64th in Native American blood. It is obviously hypocritical to profess to “being Indian” when you cannot support that claim. But, then, Ward Churchill is hardly an ethnic name and comes off as being pretty plain-vanilla WASP. One can only suppose that he wants to bolster his ethnic studies credentials with some ethnicity of his own in one sort or another. Hypocritical self aggrandizement. He also maintains that the “little Eichmans” deserved what they got. But he is himself a little Eichman. After all, he works for the state, and the state gets its money from taxpayers, many of whom fit his “little Eichman” definition.(In fact, the state gets some big tax money from the big Eichmans that employ the little ones!)So, while excusing violence against those he accuses of being party to various alleged indecencies, he is himself benefiting from the efforts of his professed “little Eichmans.” Hypocritical to say the least. The real question is how idiots like this get to be tenured professors.James DeFranciaAspen
